Celebrating 5 Years of Growth at the Bolckow Apprentice Training Facility

2024 marks a major milestone for Tees Components, as we celebrate 5 years since the opening of our Bolckow Apprentice Training Facility. Located at our North Skelton site, the facility has played a vital role in shaping the future of engineering and machining talent in the North East and beyond.

A Legacy of Investment and Expansion 

Since its opening in 2019, the facility has seen continuous investment to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. This has allowed us to create a training environment where apprentices can learn and develop in state-of-the-art facilities.

Over the years, we’ve expanded the training space to accommodate additional machining work centres, programming simulators, and measuring equipment, ensuring our apprentices have access to the latest technology and hands-on experience.

In addition to the expanding facilities, we have also welcomed a full-time Apprentice Training Coordinator, to the team. David’s role has been crucial in helping guide and support our apprentices, ensuring they receive the best possible training and development opportunities. His leadership and experience have been invaluable as we continue to grow the programme.

Expanding Opportunities for Apprentices 

As we mark this 5-year milestone, we are proud to reflect on the success and expansion of our apprenticeship programme. In 2024, we welcomed 6 new apprentices, bringing our total number of apprentices across the business to 14. This growth speaks to the demand for skilled talent and our commitment to providing career opportunities to young people in the region.

We’ve also had the opportunity to support some local T-Level placements, and have recently begun sponsoring 2 engineering students as part of the brand new Engineering Scholarship Scheme, a brilliantly proactive initiative being spearheaded by Middlesbrough College and TTE to  giving even more young people the chance to gain practical experience and build a career in engineering.
