ABOUT THIS ROLE

Job Description:

A great opportunity to start from the beginning and learn in business!

This role is to learn and work in a busy office team, providing front of house services as part of Reception, and carrying out administration work.  You will learn how to provide admin support to Sales, Purchasing, Finance, and Management functions, to ensure that our customers‘ and employees‘ needs are met to an excellent standard. 

Tasks and responsibilities include:

Meeting and greeting visitors, ensuring they have PPE and permits to work in place
Making diary appointments, organising refreshments and booking meeting rooms and lunches
Creating new enquiries on our MRP system, and converting to sales orders
Preparing documentation for enquiries and orders, and sharing with the team
Assisting with meetings to review enquiries and orders, taking notes and sharing information
Answering the phone, speaking to customers and other callers, opening and distributing mail
Sourcing and ordering consumables and materials needed for contracts
General office duties such as data entry, printing, scanning, copying, filing, shredding
Assisting with events such as socials and client hospitality

Person Description:

This role is ideal for someone seeking their first role at entry level, with no prior experience.  The successful candidate will be a great communicator, able to speak to people face-to-face and over the phone, and also to write emails to a professional standard.  Our role will suit a person wishing to gain experience in a professional SME business environment, with support and mentoring from our staff team, and formal training from an external provider.


Skills and Qualifications: 

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills - Ability to interact and be welcoming to a wide variety of people.
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Understanding of commercial sensitivity and business confidentiality
  • Good digital skills, including Windows software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, internet browsers
  • GCSE or equivalent English and Maths grade 4 or above

Desirable:

Experience in customer-facing role (e.g. hospitality, retail, ad hoc work).

Progression and Development:

On completion of this apprenticeship, you may be offered a permanent role. You will be skilled and experienced in all basic areas of business administration, ready to take your next step in a level 3 role. Level 2 office apprenticeships are a ideal first step in a business career.


Rewards and benefits

Apprenticeship (Level 2) 13-month fixed contract

Salary:

£14,000 per year paid monthly

Working hours:

30 hrs per week including off-the-job learning and assessment

08.00 – 16.30 Tuesday to Thursday (1/2-hour lunch unpaid); 08.00 – 14.00 Fridays
