ABOUT THIS ROLE

Job Description:

Join us as a Trainee Surface Treatment technician!

A brilliant opportunity to work for our award-winning mechanical engineering subcontractor.  Learn and develop in our shot blast and paint facility, alongside one of the UK’s heaviest machine shops.

In this role, you will undertake formal and on-the-job training in surface preparation, blasting, painting, inspection and checking, cleaning, and goods outgoing preparation, all to a high standard to meet our customers’ needs.  You will learn about our products and our equipment, and prepare for the next step of working independently as a skilled technician in our team.

Person Description:

This trainee role would suit someone who is already working in a mechanical engineering environment, and is looking for an opportunity to gain skills and learn a trade.  It is ideal for someone who enjoys learning and has excellent attention to detail.

A careful approach is essential, as we are trusted with our customers’ components and we work to ensure they are cared for.


Skills and Qualifications: 

Essential:

  • Grade 4 or above in English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent
  • Professional attitude and commitment to work
  • Ability to follow instructions exactly, particularly with regard to safety and quality Experience in an engineering environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with surface preparation or treatment of metal components

Salary:

£480.00 per week 

Working hours:

39 hrs per week: Monday - Thursday: 8am - 4.30pm, ½ hr lunch break, Friday: 7am - 2pm
