Job title: Trainee CNC Machinist – Programmer Setter Operator

Permanent Contract, Full-time

Join us as an advanced Machine Shop Engineer Trainee. Based at our site in North Skelton, East Cleveland, we offer a Competitive Salary and Benefits package including shift allowance and compressed hours shift pattern.


ABOUT THIS ROLE

In this role, you will undertake formal and on-the-job training in advanced machine shop skills, learn about our products and our equipment, and prepare for the next step of working independently as a machinist. (Higher earnings and shift working will then apply).

Be challenged every day and develop in a well-equipped, modern machine shop; supported by our engineering team.

For these positions we are considering candidates who are already experienced in machining, and want to take the next step to an advanced level. These are ideally suited to people who are:

  • - Already working in CNC machine operation, perhaps running existing programmes and/or machining repeat products, who want to be able to write their own programmes and gain a higher skill level.
  • - Working as a manual machinist and wanting to develop to CNC programming and operation.
  • - Unable to complete their apprenticeship, perhaps through redundancy, and looking to complete and further their training. Ambitious to reach their full potential as programmers, setters, operators, machine shop engineers.


PERSON DESCRIPTION:

  • - Knowledge and experience of safe working in a production facility
  • - Machine tool operation – lathes, milling machines, borers
  • - Reading and interpreting drawings
  • - Programming experience – desired but not essential
  • - Overhead crane use, slinging – desired but not essential.

Skills and Qualifications: 

Essential:

  • Time-served (Machine Shop apprenticeship) 
  • Experience with vertical borers or horizontal borers – can be manual 
  • Able to set one-off jobs Experience with components 1m and over 
  • Measurement skills with manual equipment (dimensions and surface finish) 
  • Able to read engineering drawings

Desirable:

Programming skills (Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhein)

Salary:

£28,000 - £32,000 (initial training rate), depending on previous experience

Shift Pattern:

You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday [days and nights on alternating weeks following completion of training period] Overtime is available on Fridays and Saturdays.
