ABOUT THIS ROLE

Job Description:

Join us as a Machine Shop Engineer Apprentice!  A brilliant opportunity to gain a place on our award-winning, top quality mechanical engineering apprenticeship programme.  Learn and develop in one of the UK’s heaviest machine shops, a fully CNC factory with a widely varied workload of complex parts and different materials.

In this role, you will undertake formal and on-the-job training in machine shop skills, learn about our products and our equipment, and prepare for the next step of working independently as a machinist.  (Higher pay rates and shifts will then apply).

Be challenged every day.  Develop in a well-equipped, modern machine shop, supported by our engineering team.

Person Description:

This entry-level role would suit someone who has sampled machining and mechanical engineering, and knows it is the career for them.  You may be at college or university studying e.g. BTEC or T-levels, and may have gained a little experience of engineering either in education or work experience setting.  The successful candidates will be individuals who love mechanical problem-solving and want to gain a highly-skilled trade with top earning potential


Skills and Qualifications: 

Essential:

  • Grade 4 or above in English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent
  • Professional attitude and commitment to work Ability to manage own time and study requirements alongside work

Desirable:

  • Experience (e.g. placement) in engineering environment Hobby, volunteering, or other pastime that demonstrates your interest in mechanical engineering

Rewards and benefits

Apprenticeship 3 Year

Salary:

£247.00 per week (1st year)

[Sample progression rates: 2nd year £330.00/week, 3rd year £410.00/week, 4th year £490.00/week]

Working hours:

38 hrs per week: Monday - Thursday: 8am - 4.30pm, ½ hr lunch break, Friday: 7am - 1pm (Hours subject to change as training progresses)
