Job Description:

Join us as an Advanced Machine Shop Engineer Trainee!  An opportunity to learn and develop in one of the UK’s heaviest machine shops, a fully CNC factory with a widely varied workload of complex parts and different materials.

In this role, you will undertake formal and on-the-job training in advanced machine shop skills, learn about our products and our equipment, and prepare for the next step of working independently as a machinist.  (Higher pay rates and shifts will then apply).

 

Be challenged every day.  Develop in a well-equipped, modern machine shop, supported by our engineering team.

 

Candidates without machine shop experience are welcome to apply for 2023 apprentice roles – contact us by March.

 

Person Description:

For these positions we are considering candidates who are already experienced in machining, and want to take the next step to an advanced level.  These are ideally suited to people who are:

  • Already working in CNC machine operation, perhaps running existing programmes and/or machining repeat products, who want to be able to write their own programmes or gain a higher skill level
  • Working as a manual machinist and wanting to develop to CNC programming and operation
  • Unable to complete their apprenticeship, perhaps through redundancy, and looking to complete and further their training
  • Ambitious to reach their full potential as programmers, setters, operators, machine shop engineers

 

Skills and Qualifications: Essential

Knowledge and experience of safe working in a production facility

Machine tool operation – lathes, milling machines, borers

Reading and interpreting drawings

Skills and Qualifications: Desirable

Programming experience

Overhead crane use, slinging
